Granite Falls, NC Real Estate, Granite Falls Property and Community Information

Granite Falls, North Carolina, is a thriving community of about 5,000 individuals just to the north of Hickory, in the western part of the state. The community got its name from the crystal-clear waters tumbling over the massive boulders that span Gunpowder Creek. With Joan Killian Everett Real Estate's expertise in the local market, you can trust them to help you find the perfect home in Granite Falls that meets all your needs and preferences. Whether you're looking for a cozy starter home or a luxurious estate, Joan Killian Everett Real Estate has a range of options available to suit your lifestyle and budget.

History

Andrew Baird believed that he could harness the power of the falling waters as part of an iron forging operation. He purchased the surrounding land, and he pursued his dream in the 1790s. The forge gave way to a cotton mill in the 1880s, and other enterprises quickly developed after the railroad arrived in 1884. In 1900, the community developed its infrastructure by requiring all men, ages 18-50, to work on the roads six days a year. They had the option of paying a $3.00 tax instead.

Parks and Recreation

Those that invest in Granite Falls real estate,  will want to explore the relatively new Lakeside Park. The park includes 72-acres of land on Lake Rhodhiss. Mountain bikers will want to head out on the trails especially designed for the sport. Hiking trails also meander through the wooded areas and along the shore. Great water views abound. Anglers will find three fishing decks that have been carefully situated to maximize fishing success. A picnic shelter has been added to Lakeside Park as well. The park offers wildlife viewing and panoramic views to all.

Attractions and Activities

The Fagen Fighters World War II Museum in Granite Falls features a pristine collection of fully operational aircraft from the second World War. In the main hangar, expansive wall murals will intrigue visitors of all ages. Check out the bronze sculpture of the 4th Infantry's D-Day assault on Utah Beach. There's also an excellent display of war-related fine art.

Events

The Granite Falls Festival On Main is a newer event that offers attendees a day full of activities in mid-September. Vendors will display varied and eclectic works of art and crafts, including hand-crafted guitars, jewelry, quilts and pottery. A wine tasting, live music and a performance by cloggers are also featured. Performances also range from belly dancing to a karate demo. Enjoy a funnel cake or a snow cone as you stroll through the festival grounds.

With several hundred Granite Falls NC homes on the market at any given moment, it is advisable for a Granite Falls home buyer to seek out a capable Granite Falls real estate agent. The Joan Killian Everett Team can efficiently assess your Granite Falls real estate goals and quickly point out the Granite Falls real estate that will meet your requirements.
